City of Light
September 29, 2018
City of Light is a top-down puzzle-based stealth game, where you play as Annette, a fearless mime trying to purge her city of mythological creatures with her mime powers.
I created this game as part of CS 3152: Introduction to Computer Game Development in Spring 2018. One of the courses known at Cornell CIS for it's high workload, I found this course highly rewarding.
I worked with Emma Cohn, Mary Ji, Katie Sadoff, Amanda Trang, and Pippen Wu. This was my first time working on such a large team for an extended period of time. Teams are formed prior to joining the class via application, and I had not worked with any of them prior. However, our team got along extremely well and I loved working with such talented, friendly, hardworking people.
Screencaps!
Our team took inspiration from the Art Nouveau for the character design and UI, and we took sound inspiration from La Vie en Rose.
City of Light was one of the audience favorites at the GDIAC showcase in 2018, and was accepted to Boston Festival of Indie Games (BostonFIG).
Being able to attend the festival was super exciting. I had never been to a game convention before, and seeing and playing all the interesting games motivated me and reminded me why I loved game design.
